Purpose of this blog

This is a blog for myself and my friends, primarily, to help them keep up with my cancer treatment and recovery, and also so I can keep them informed without emailing and calling everyone individually. It's wonderful to have so many who care about you, but when you are already trying to juggle work, family & cancer, it's hard to find time to talk with everyone.

It is also for anyone who has cancer and is looking for what others say. It's a way for me to process my thoughts. Who knows, maybe its for "posterity" if I (or anyone else who posts) have great insights.

"Naaaahhhhh!!!!" :)

  1. Well, since I can't figure out how to edit my posts, I'll add a comment about my chances:
I should assure you that my ultimate prognosis is very good. An average of 2.3% of women my age will die of various causes within 10 years -- the average number of women with my cancer and these treatments who die is about 7%. So, yes it has gone up, but it still seems pretty darn good. I mean, 10 years a lot could happen!

  2. Since it was I, MaryAnne's everlovin' sister, who told her she should write a blog, I was QUITE thrilled that when I got to her blog site I had the opportunity to be her first publicly-identified follower! So hey, if you were lurking before I got here, TOO BAD -- should have signed on earlier!

  3. Hi MaryAnne,

Thanks for sending the information about your blog. I forwarded it to the ASTER choir. Donna McCuaig went through a breast cancer fight last year and she is doing very well now. Two other members are also "survivors", though I don't think that you know them, Jean Rosecrans and Sue Preston.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this ordeal, BUT I'm very glad that you are of such tough "pioneer stock" AND a feisty redhead to boot!

I know that you will be getting lots of support from your friends and family. I wish that I could give you a hug. Instead, I'm sending love and prayers and positive energy.
